PABLO CASALS FESTIVAL
Every summer, since June 2, 1950, the day of its first performance, under the aegis of Pablo Casals, the PABLO CASALS FESTIVAL has taken place, bringing together musicians from all over the world.
The concert program is spread over several days, mainly in the magnificent ABBAYE SAINT MICHEL DE CUXA.
While classical music holds pride of place, Pierre Bleuse, artistic director since 2021, has brought new life to the festival, notably by reconstituting the Festival Orchestra as Pablo Casals had imagined and organized it in his time.
Pierre Bleuse is particularly committed to the contemporary and lyrical repertoire and in this capacity recently provided the musical direction of Orgia, the opera by Hèctor Parra directed by Calixto Bieito, at the Grand Théâtre du Liceu in Barcelona.
In France he is also regularly in demand and has already conducted the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre national de France, Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, de Lyon, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, etc.
He works regularly with great international soloists including Joyce DiDonato, Karita Mattila, Sol Gabetta, Truls Mork, Bertrand Chamayou, Emmanuel Pahud, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon.
First prize in violin at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, Pierre Bleuse trained as a conductor with Jorma Panula in Finland and Laurent Gay at the Haute École de Genève.
